Joe Kraus, Co-Founder and CEO
Joe Kraus is co-founder and CEO of JotSpot, the first application-wiki company. A long time entrepreneur, Joe has been involved with early-stage technology development and starting companies for more than twelve years. Upon graduation from Stanford University in 1993, he joined with five engineering friends to found the highly successful Internet company, Excite, Inc. The original president of Excite, Joe was deeply involved in product strategy, direction and vision as the company grew. He also held senior operational roles in business development, international development and content.
After leaving Excite@Home in 2000, Joe was a co-founder of Digitalconsumer.org, a non-profit grassroots consumer organization with more than 50,000 members dedicated to protecting consumers fair-use rights to digital media. Joe, along with other co-founder Graham Spencer, continues to work on these important issues. In addition to his non-profit focus, he has also spent many years as an angel investor, working with numerous early-stage technology companies.
Scott Johnston, Vice President, Products
As Vice President of Products, Scott leads product strategy and product development.
Before joining JotSpot, Scott spent two years as the Director of R&D at Mercury Interactive. Scott joined Mercury with the acquisition of Kintana, a start-up that delivered IT process and systems automation to over 400 of the Fortune 500 companies. At Kintana, Scott played several roles from software engineer and product manager, to general purpose trouble maker. Previous to Kintana, Scott worked for SGI as a graphics hardware engineer.
Scott holds a ScB in Electrical Engineering from Brown University.
Ben Lutch, Vice President, Operations
As the Vice President of Operations, Ben Lutch oversees and manages the growth and maintenance of all operations technology at JotSpot. Prior to JotSpot, Ben was an independent networking consultant, where he spent five years directing companies of all sizes on how to efficiently and cost-effectively build, manage and grow data centers.
Ben was one of the original founders of the popular search engine and portal, Excite. As the head of Operations at Excite, Ben built and managed the early data center and later oversaw the operations technology as the company grew to handle some of the largest traffic on the Internet. He oversaw automation, monitoring, networking and application-system scaling.
Ben holds a BS in Computer Science from Stanford University.
Perry Mizota, Vice President, On-Premise Business
As vice president of the on-premise business, Perry Mizota is responsible for JotSpot's products that can be deployed on a company's own hardware systems and behind their firewall.
Perry brings to JotSpot almost nineteen years of experience in defining and marketing products in the software market. Prior to JotSpot, he was the vice president of products and marketing at Syndera Corporation, a provider of real-time business intelligence solutions. Previous to Syndera, Perry had has own consulting business where he acted as interim vice president of marketing for a number of early-stage start-up companies. Prior to that, he played executive roles in helping three successful start-up companies - Sybase, Business Objects, and Sagent Technology - make the transition from privately held, start-up ventures to publicly traded companies.
Perry has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California and an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Ken Norton, Vice President, Product Marketing & New Market Development
Ken is responsible for the marketing, evangelism and adoption of JotSpot's product offerings as well as the development of new business offerings.
Before joining JotSpot, Ken spent more than two years as senior director of product management at Yahoo! Inc., and led several search product launches during the company's resurgence. Ken joined Yahoo! with the acquisition of Inktomi Corp. where he was director of product strategy. Previous to Yahoo!, Ken was a co-founder of Grand Central Communications. Prior to that, Ken spent more than two years as chief technology officer at NBC Internet. During Ken's tenure, NBCi grew to become the sixth largest site on the web with over 16 million monthly visitors. Before the formation of NBCi, Ken was vice president of technology at Snap.com, a CNET Networks spin-off. Prior to transitioning to Snap, Ken spent two years as director of software engineering at CNET Networks where he was a member of Snap's founding team.
Ken holds a BA cum laude from Boston University and an MS in technology management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Graham Spencer, Co-Founder and CTO
As the Chief Technology officer, Graham Spencer designed and built the JotSpot application wiki foundation. He currently spearheads all technology design and development for the company. Prior to JotSpot, Graham spent three years as a co-founder of Digitalconsumer.org, a consumer rights organization that works to preserve consumers' existing digital rights as well as get passed into law its Consumer Technology Bill of Rights. He continues to run Digitalconsumer.org as a non-profit. Graham was formerly the original Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Excite.com, the popular Internet search engine and portal.
Graham is widely recognized as one of the first technologists developing search technologies for the mainstream. He has teamed with Joe Kraus, JotSpot co-founder, on technology and company entrepreneurial efforts for the last 12 years. Graham holds a BS and MS in Computer Science from Stanford University.
